Chess is a competitive and entertaining
strategy game played on a wooden board between two players. It is sometimes called "Western chess" or
"International chess" to distinguish it from older forms and related games such as Chinese chess . The current
form of the game emerged in southern Europe in the second half of the 15th century , following the development
of a similar game of Indian and Persian origin . Today, chess is one of the most popular games in the world,
played by millions of people around the world at home , in clubs , online, and in tournaments . [ 1 ]
Chess is an abstract strategy game that does not involve any hidden information. It is played on a chessboard
with 64 black and white squares arranged in 8 rows and 8 columns. At the start of the game, each player (one of
whom controls the white pieces and the other the black pieces) controls 16 pieces: 1 king , 1 queen , 2 rooks ,
2 knights , 2 bishops , and 8 pawns . The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king. If the king is
under attack and has no room to move, it is checkmated. The game can also end in a draw.

King— ( Unicode
: ♔♚) Chess piece.
The king (except for the rook) moves from its own square to another mixed square that is not under attack by
an opponent's piece.
Queen— A
chess piece.
The queen moves vertically, horizontally, or diagonally from the square she occupies. [ 1 ] There is no
limit to the number of squares she can move (as long as there are no other pieces in her path). She is
considered the most powerful piece in the game. In Europe and countries dominated by Western culture, she is
called the queen.
Bishop— Chess piece.
The bishop moves only diagonally . [ 1 ] There is no limit to the number of squares it can move (as long as
there are no other pieces in its path).
Horse — Chess piece.
The knight's move consists of two types of movements: it moves to one square along a vertical or horizontal
line, and then moves diagonally away from the starting square to another square [ 1 ] .
Ball— A chess piece.
The ball moves vertically and horizontally. [ 1 ]
A pawn—is a chess
piece .
Pedestrians can only move forward:
a) The pawn moves vertically from the square it is currently on, initially jumping one or two squares. Then
its movement from square to square is made vertically. When capturing the opponent's pawn, it moves
diagonally to a mixed square.
b) Any pawn moving in a vertical line, after reaching the end of the board, may be transformed into a queen,
rook, bishop or knight of its own color, captured by the opponent on the last move.
